One of Rural Aid’s Counsellors, Roger was on the road last week to support flood-affected pastoralists in the Kimberleys. This area in West Australia endured large flooding at the end of 2022.
Roger shared his travels for the week:
On Day 1 and 2 driving to the Fitzroy Crossing down to the Jubilee Downs Station to meet with the station hands and was invited to join them for a BBQ. On Day 4 driving over 1600kms and enjoyed a rodeo in Kunanurra, meeting with the community and local farmers. Then back to Halls Creek and then the Fitzroy Crossing to meet the community at the local recovery hub.
Rural Aid counsellors know that farmers are busy people who are never far from their property and therefore the best way to talk with them is to meet them at their place.
