On the Road with Brian

Brian is our Operations Manager. Here is his story from his time at the Multikraft Field Day in Bundaberg.

I’m thrilled to share my experience at the 2023 Multikraft Probiotics Field Day in Bundaberg, which took place in the last week of August with Megan Armstrong (Rural Aid CFO) and a group of over 50 enthusiastic participants.

As the Operations Manager for Rural Aid, my key takeaway was the vital role soil and roots play in reducing the effects of various environmental stressors, including low rainfall, excessive rain, and extreme heat. These practices are not only instrumental in ensuring access to healthy and nutritious food but also in safeguarding our natural resources.

My favourite part of the field day was experiencing the amount of passion the growers, demonstrated both as presenters and attendees. Engaging in conversations, we gained valuable knowledge and new insights that will increase our ability to support farming communities across Australia.

In the afternoon, we visited several farms in the surrounding region (Sweet Sensations, Smillie’s Group, Stahmann Webster, and IAI Australia). We were able to see how Multikraft products are actively contributing to improved soil health and greater resilience on each of the farms.

Farmers (growers) passionately discussed the profound impact of soil, roots, and microbes on crop health. Craig from Sweet Sensations shared a remarkable journey, emphasizing how Multikraft products assisted in revitalizing his once-depleted soil. Given Bundaberg’s proximity to waterways and the Great Barrier Reef, environmental consciousness also took centre stage in some discussions throughout the day.

I’d like to thank Multikraft, Ag-Plus Consultancy, Farmlink Rural, Carbon Friendly, and Viridios Capital for their educational presentations during the morning sessions. Special appreciation to Angela Elliott and Michael Madsen from Multikraft for generously extending the invitation to this event. It provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and further our mission of supporting Australian farmers.
