Monique Forster is Rural Aid’s Marketing Coordinator. Here is her story from her time in Sydney at the Great Aussie BBQ for the Australia Day event in January 2024.
Last Thursday, myself and the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications team arrived in Sydney bright and early from Brisbane to kickstart the preparations for the much-anticipated Australia Day event. Waking up early on Friday, we added the finishing touches to our marquee set up and ensured everything was perfect. The event itself was a tremendous success, drawing people from all corners of the globe who came and savoured the numerous unique Aussie sausage sizzles. I spent the day running around, capturing memorable moments with the camera, assisting with technical issues, chatting with supporters in the food line and hung out with some cattle.
One of the highlights of this event was connecting with the Our Cow team and the NSW Premiers Department who generously collaborated to organize the event, with all proceeds going to Rural Aid. Overall, it was a fantastic few days in Sydney where city met country. We worked with some amazing people and made plenty of new friends.
